Our coaches' vital role

Coaches and volunteers are critical to establishing good practices in football and within St. Bernard's United FC. Your attitude to the game directly informs the attitude of the players under your supervision. Coaches and volunteers must speak and act in a manner consistent with this reality.

Safeguarding and respect

As a coach or volunteer, I will: complete Garda Vetting before commencing my role and I will complete the safeguarding 1 course. I will respect the rights, dignity, and worth of each person and treat each person equally within the context of the sport.

Commitment to player well-being and fair play

As a coach or volunteer, I will: not subscribe to the ethos of “win at all costs”. I will place the health, well-being, and safety of each player above all other considerations. I will abide by the rules of the game. I will strive to develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual respect. I will have particular regard for the code when working with young players in the game. I will not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward. I will guide players to accept responsibility for their actions.
